Why do well-intended efforts fail, and end up making things worse? At best, our actions may make no impact at all.
It turns out that good intentions are not good enough.
What else do we need?
The answer requires that we understand the system in which we operate.
You see, we live and work as part of several human systems – in families, in our organizations, and in our country. These systems are made up of various stakeholders whose actions influence and impact each other – sometimes in ways that are not so obvious and unexpected. If we fail to see such connections within the system, our well-intended actions may not address the real underlying problems, but can in fact actually make things worse!
Systems Thinking is a set of principles, methods, and tools to help us see connections more clearly and completely. In this way, Systems Thinking aids us in making better decisions, action plans, and policies for our work and our lives.
In this workshop, participants will learn a unique method, specially formulated by Dr. Jacob Lee in 2006, to apply Systems Thinking in their daily work and lives. This unique approach to Systems Thinking is designed around what Dr Lee has coined The 3 Questions That Systems Thinkers Ask (or 3QueST™ for short).
Systems Thinking can appear overly complicated, intimidating, and cumbersome to apply. However, unlike some other approaches to Systems Thinking, the 3QueST™ method has proven effective in that it is simple to use, yet insightful and powerful. This is borne out of observation and feedback from Dr. Lee’s many clients over the years. Various schools and organizations find it so useful that they decided to use the 3QueST™ approach as a common language among staff to dialogue, think, and plan together.
Structure Of Online Program
This program is a blend of self-paced learning and facilitated online sessions by Dr. Jacob Lee.
Self-paced activities include videos (created and narrated by Dr. Lee) and exercises.
The facilitated online sessions give participants the opportunity to interact with Dr. Lee and to work collaboratively in groups. During these facilitated sessions, Dr. Lee will also give feedback on participants’ group work and answer questions.

What Participants Say
The concepts learned in the course are definitely useful and very applicable. The design of the course by Dr Lee is definitely one of the best around. Engaging without the stress, good pace, self directed learning with revision of concepts and clear explanation with good relatable examples.
Self-directed learning gave attendees the freedom to complete the required learning at desired pace. Overall less tiring than sitting through the entire workshop.
The flipped learning was done wonderfully. Jacob is very engaging and humorous. Definitely recommend other staff to sign up.
Dr Jacob Lee make the workshop very interesting and lively. He used many real-life examples for illustration and explanation. He provided various useful templates on System Thinking (eg 3QueST™) which are quite easy to use in our work. He was also able to get all participants to actively involved in the lively discussion. His training videos are also easy to understand. Good job!
Instructor was the best instructor for adult learners I’ve had so far: humble, engaging, gracious, accommodating. Course was very clear and easy to understand/apply
I also enjoy the blended learning approach very much, especially because even time for the self-paced portion is protected (unlike other self learning courses)
Dr Jacob! He was very meticulous, structured, clear in delivery, knowledgeable, engaging and humorous!
Fun and engaging. Simple language and easy to understand examples.
Hybrid model of virtual learning – didn’t know it can be so effective
This is a well-planned course, each segment is intentional and the zoom sessions complement the self-directed videos well to supplement learning.
Very engaging and a good balance of zoom and self-learning.
Lessons are well thought through and structured. Key take aways are bite sized and easily digestable followed by individual and group assignments to help reinforce the key takeaways.
Trainer was very knowledgeable, clear, concise, and positive. It was a pleasure to have him.
Dr Jacob Lee’s course is clear and direct with excellent examples. I will definitely be applying his concepts to my work and life!
Dr Jacob was very interactive and make the whole course more enjoyable and interactive.
The self-directed learning and individual assignment ensures full participation and engagement. At the same time, there were adequate group exercises to ensure there were interactions during the program. Overall, the right mix of self-learning and class learning.
Self-learning sessions were useful to reduce zoom fatigue and provided some flexibility in time management. Instructor was humorous and uses relevant examples which aided in my learning.
Many features were good… deep discussion of the tools and case studies, a good course! It will help me in my leadership journey. Will recommend to colleagues.
I like how this course has been pivoted to e-learning, and we can go back to the materials covered by Dr Jacob any time during the course to recap what was said. Also the tools provided were very useful and Dr Jacob had been very patient to bring us through and ensuring we know how to apply them.
Lot of interactive components. Learning pace was great.
For me, blended learning with the video and individual work is a very good approach. Jacob is a great facilitator. He is very clear in his explanations and he makes it easy to follow and understand. Good job!
Good balance of teaching and self-directed learning. Jacob is very engaging
The scope is relevant.
Structured approach by Jacob. Clear concepts and examples. Very good engagement by Jacob even though it was an online course.
Group discussion sessions with immediate review and feedback for us to assess our learning of the concepts.
The bite-sized practices and applications of the tools taught, as well as the relatability of the examples and case studies used. The format of Zoom sessions & self-study was very effective too.
I like the mixed training methodology, including self-directed learning. Allows us to learn at our pace and yet be able to engage and interact with our course mates and lecturer.
Jacob facilitated the training sessions very well, making it interactive despite the online nature of the course. Special kudos to his videos which are really great and YouTube worthy.
Generally, I find the course relevant (ref. to case examples provided), appealing (i.e. concepts are simple to understand and grasp, group discussion & sharing) and personal (i.e. how you weave in our sharing to the presentation, application questions to personal/work experiences). The facilitator made it a point to acknowledge everyone’s responses and questions, and provide timely summaries and debriefs. Overall a safe and conducive learning environment (despite the earlier concerns on the conversion to online mode).
The informative videos and discussion sessions allow us to understand each other’s perspectives when facing the same issue.
Very engaging and keeps the class alive.
Very interesting and innovative presentation format.
Wonderful trainer Dr Jacob Lee. He is very engaging and encourages participation, in terms of coursework he gives very appropriate examples to bring the content across. Very enjoyable 2 days
Trainer tries to maintain good interactions between participants by acknowledging the response promptly.
Love his examples in relating to teaching subjects.
Able to share experience and cases to let us understand the concepts. The course is well paced with self learning videos and exercises.
I think Dr. Jacob prepared very well. In terms of using Zoom and his course materials – everything was perfect. The breakout rooms were very well organised too. He answered any questions very well. Appreciate all his hard work!
Trainer attempted to keep the energy level high, eLearning videos were well narrated.
